A few simple, Healthy Choices for Food Fuel

1. Nutrient Balance

All three nutrients are a gift to the body! Include each nutrient together; a healthy fat, a complex carbohydrate and a complete protein in every meal and snack you consume. Each nutrient offers essential FUEL to optimally nourish specific functions within the body’s systems. Each nutrient is important for overall health and wellness. As important, consume the nutrients together. When all three nutrients are combined, the body utilizes each more efficiently; resulting in full nourishment, more sustained, long term energy and less glucose/weight storage in the body.

2. Quality Choices (Fruit and Veggies)

FUEL your body well by purchasing organic whenever possible! What to do when organic is not an option. Use this guide.
Environmental Working Group (EWG) offers a Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce to assist consumers to choose optimally when it comes to optimal fruit and veggies choices… for you and your family!

 “The Dirty Dozen”- produce with the highest load of pesticide residues

  5. Peach
  6. Celery
  7. Grape

“The Clean Fifteen”-produce least likely to contain pesticide residues
  (when buying organic is not an option, choose foods from this list)

  1. Sweet Corn
  2. Avocado
  3. Pineapple
  4. Cabbage
  5. Onion
  6. Frozen Sweet Peas
  7. Papaya
  8. Asparagus
  9. Mango
  10. Eggplant
  11. Honeydew melon
  12. Kiwi
  13. Cantaloupe
  14. Cauliflower
  15. Grapefruit

When possible, choose organic in all your food purchases to avoid harmful additives. Choose organic when purchasing meat, eggs, and dairy; given the current additives, hormones, antibiotics added.
Pesticides have been linked to several health diseases and conditions. Pray a blessing or set an intention for the health and vibration of your food…a lovely option as well!

3.  Foundation of Optimal Health

The digestive system is the foundation for optimal health. It is responsible for supplying the body with essential nutrients through assimilation and absorption.
FUEL your body regularly with the following items to support your digestive system.    

  1. Probiotic (friendly gut bacteria: Brand- Check with local health food store)
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar (digestive support, detoxification and more: Brand- Bragg’s)
  3. Sauerkraut/ Sauerkraut Juice (fermentation/ friendly bacteria: Brand- Biotta)
  4. Kombucha Drink ( fermentation/friendly bacteria: Brand- GT’S no sugar added)
